I have installed the firepages.com php/mySQL/Apache/perl download into the recommended directory, and on it's own, within my localhost, it seems to run ok (I've tried a couple of Flash/php tutorials, and they work fine at http:// localhost/filename.swf etc.).
I also have my server set up to let people in, i.e., at http://65.48.144.230 so I can get a little Flash art forum/hangout place up and running over the next while (If you look now, it's a big file without a preloader yet, so it might be blank white for a few seconds).
THE PHP (APACHE?) PROBLEM: when I have the Apache environment running, no one can get into the above 65.48 external address AT ALL, with the message that Apache won't allow access. Remember, the files I'm accessing work fine on localhost, and fine when Apache is turned off.
REAL PROBLEM: if I copy my "working" Flash/php scripts etc. into the Win2K Server default wwwroot, and have php enabled, I get the same message when I go to the above address /flashFile (can't remember the name...), BUT if I turn Apache off, I can then load the Flash file from any computer off my server, however, since php is now disabled, it won't load the dynamic content or run the php stuff, i.e., I can access the Flash file, but not the server-side requirements to make it functional.
Could someone tell me a possible way to fix this? I'm SO new at this, it took a month to get the server just letting people in, so if you can recommend a tutorial if it's a common problem, I'd really appreciate it.
Shawn🙂
