get rid of whitespaces when writing to file

[juschillinnow]

$message = "$name\n$user\n$pass";

I am writing the message to a file. the result is:

juschillinnow
me
password

but there is a "space" at the end of the first two and I'm assuming its because of the \n in the message.

I HAVE to have this "space" gone because it is used to connect to mysql and it is very picky.

How do I get rid of this whitespace?

I've already tried ereg_replace
