mySQL info

wel euhm, this might sound silly but where can I find some info on mySQL cause I installed it yesterday but I have no Idea what to do with it...
cause it's not like i get a program like access to make a database...and I really have no clue how to begin...

I would appriciate every help.

In the root of the MySQL folder there is an .html file that has all the info on it; setup, testing, short SQL tutorial, the works....

but I have been reading the manuel and I have figured out I have to work in dos but euhm if I do:
./configure

it sais it's an invalid command
i do it in the bin directory...
can someone plz help...

Hello again,

the command ./configure is a unix like command....

in dos, the binary files will be made during a call to a "setup.exe" type command. Find the setup file or exe. If their isn't one then place the exe/bat file in the c:\WINNT\some_php_ini_file.

do I have to set up php too? if i use phpinfo() it sais that mysql in enabled isn't that enough?

hi,

well i have installed apache and php4 and those work cause i have tested it out with small codes.

But i want to save data and stuff so I need a database and since php and mySQL go togheter I tried to install mySQL

it was a zipfile,and an exe I did the exe and at that point i'm now, I have figured out that I have to use DOS to use mySQL but that is all for now... i keep getting an error...

and i really apprciate your help 🙂

You should run one of the mysqld -binaries (mysqld-opt, mysqld-nt etc, pick one that suits your configuration). That's the server daemon.

Then you can use mysql.exe (or was that .com?) for command line access to your database once it's running.
