Mail server on Win2K with hotmail?

Hello All,
I am trying to set up an smtp server on my win2k box and use this to send confirmation emails. I have tried Mercury/32 (among others) and it seems to do the job, but it doesnt seem to send messages to the hotmail server. Is there another server out there ,or a quick fix, that could make this possible?
