What kinda music are most php coders listening to these days? Obviously php has nothing to do with it 🙂

I am hooked on alice in chains (unplugged) these days. Also a big fan of dylan and hendrix. What're you guys listening to?

Yes, I have a varied tastes.

When things are broken and need fixen, I put on the thrashing stuff, when I'm designing intricate things and need to go slow, I put on Jazz or Ambient or Peter Gabriel...

That's quite the opposite of what I like when things are broken Sxooter. I have to switch everything off... attention span of a monkey I'm afraid.

Perfect Circle fan! Nice! White Zombie in small doses and Peter Gabriel anytime. I haven't heard of any of the other ones, though Concrete Blonde sounds pretty sweet 🙂

For some reason, when things are broken, I need music that matches my angry, pissed off mood. And I crank it in my headphones so loud people can hear it several cubes down.

FYI:

Red Holloway is one of the fathers of Acid Jazz (he's like 74 now, and still rockin on)

Thrill Kill Kult is kinda like a weird girlie version of Zombie music

concrete blonde only cut 5 studio albums in the late 80s, but the lead singer, Johnette Napolitano is one of the greatest singers I've ever heard, and the lead guiterist, Jim Mankey is a GOD.

311 does a song on their 1993 album that goes "fck the bllsh*t it's time to throw down" that is total thrash music, and great for blowing off steam.

Transglobal Underground is a very very weird techno / world music mix.

I also like Aphrodite and Uberzone (drum and base and techno / ambient respectively)

Queen, Collective Soul, Chicago, the radio on one of the real rock stations (not the pop crap), Nirvana

Mahler, baroque music, any of the complex, harsh stuff... Barber

harder stuff... tool... korn...

I have to stop coding if the pop crap gets turned on somewhere.

I once had a three day coding bonanza where I set up my computer in the living room... listened to Cyrus Chestnut the whole time.

hey! Ever hear the concrete blonde cover of everybody knows? It rocks. I heard it the first time when I was watching Pump up the Volume (which has both LC's and CBs version in it.)

I have a tape of Johnette and Jim doing it live on acoustic guitar that is amazing.
