minimum characters for search ??

Hi there, I have a search code that uses full-text for a database search... The problem is that if I type any companies name that is less than 4 characters such as "Arc" or "cgi" it returns no results but when you type 4 or more characters it works... pleease help...

that is a feature, not an error.

Fulltext searches throw out anything <= 3 characters.

Is there any wayy that I can get around it at all... There had to be a way.... I know why the feature is there but I want to get around it....

but you can make you bid like this:
The minimum length of words to be indexed is defined by the MySQL variable ft_min_word_len. See section 4.5.6.4 SHOW VARIABLES. Change it to the value you prefer, and rebuild your FULLTEXT indexes. (This variable is only available from MySQL version 4.0.)

be careful,if you redefined the ft_min_word_len,you must rebuilder your FULLTEXT indexes
