I want to create a table if exists, not delete it. Does the syntax CREATE TABLE IF NOT EXIST work?

Why do you need this? The normal thing is to do a data model and create all tables at one time.

I need an application that builds tables on the fly, and if they already exists for that customer, I do not want the table to be rebuilt. Therefore I need to check for the existence of a table and if it does exist, I need to skip the create stage and focus on the import of data stage.

Why do you need separate tables for separate customers? Add an extra column instead and use that to identify the customer.
