Parse Error!

I'm pulling info from a database into a form. When I submit the form, I need to define all the variables PLUS calculate more based on what was entered in the form. This may be long, but I can't figure out a way to do this that I understand.

I'm getting a parse error:

${amt$i}=$HTTP_GET_VARS[amt$i];
if ${amt$i}>0 {
${lye$i}=($amt$i*$NAOH$i);
$lye=(${lye$i}+lye); }} //end if $amt and end for loop

PLEASE HELP! I'm trying to learn this, but looked through 2 books and still can't figure it out.

dont cry now... parse error means that you made a syntax error
like forgetting a semicolon or using quotes where you shouldnt

like here:

$somevar = "somevalue"

where it should be:

$somevar = "somevalue"<b>;</b>

or like here:

$somevar = "its called "the little house on the praire" ";

where you should do this:

$somevar = "its called \"the little house on the praire\" ";

i dont see exactly where you need help because your code is quite confusing but... thats about it

I understand that, but I can't figure out where the parse error is coming from. I've been working on this darn calculator all day! I have tried to find info on working with nested variables (not sure what else to call them) maybe that's where the error is coming from. I tried everything else I can think of, and it's not getting rid of that darn error.
