Completely Green. Help.

What do I need in order to write and compile my php scripts? As you can tell I'm new to this language and haven't a clue as to what is required to display my scripts to see if they work. Am I required to install a server software like Apache server in order to view the output? Any help would be appreciated in this respects.

You can download phpDev and that should get You starting. It contains apache webserver, mysql and php.
