Can someone test this

Hi All.

This is strange. I have a site that contains serval pages of HTML.

One of the pages: http://www.travellingtoengland.co.uk/accomodation/accom.htm

asks for a user anem and password. The "accom.htm" is just plain HTML scripting, No PHP scripts connecting it to my database.

I have another page: http://www.travellingtoengland.co.uk/recreation/restaurants.htm

which again is just plain HTML scripting. This page does not ask for a user name or password.

When the user gets to iether the "accom.htm" or "restaurants.htm" then there are PHP scripts attached to those pages.

Both the "accom data" and the "restaurant data" are in the same database.

Why is this happening, any ideas.

are protected ...the page is asking for the basic 401 authentication scheme...you need to ensure that the folder those pages are in is not protected

I did write down the wrong URL for the second one , here is the correct URL

http://www.travellingtoengland.co.uk/ecreation/eatdrink.htm

I can understand that the pages could be protected, this was working OK last week.

The URL above works from the site home page. if you goto

http://www.travellingtoengland.co.uk/index2.htm

you will see the ACCOMODATION and EATING OUT buttons on the menu. The EATING OUT one work OK but the ACCOMODATION asks for the username and password. Both the ACCOMODATION and EATING OUT tables are in the same database. I would have thoght that if it was a page protected problem both would not work. I just can't understand this. Help

ok ACCOMODATION need authentification,

Why should ACCOMODATION need authentification, I have not done any actions that it should require authentification,

the page ACCOM.HTM is called from the menu on the home page, there is not any PHP scripting in that file so why should it require any authentification. its just a plain HTML file.

It's from the ACCOM.HTM file that the user can select option which in turn run PHP scripts which do require authentification.

I am lost here

check your Accomodation/ and see if there is .htaccess file
delete or rename it

Yes there was a .htaccess file so I renamed it and presto, it now works
