$_SERVER['PHP_AUTH_USER'] on WINDOWS?

I have set up PHP+mysql+apache on a laptop so I can demo a dynamic website. The site uses basic authentication which php intercepts.

PHP on my windows setup doesn't seem to have the system variables of , any idea how I get this to work. I think its something to do with php not running as a module.

Make sure you have the following lines in your httpd.conf file:

LoadModule php4_module c:/php/sapi/php4apache.dll

AddType application/x-httpd-php .php .phtml

(oh yeah, sorry if I didnt make myself clear, those lines will enable you to run PHP as an apache module)

As usual with these thing I worked it out for myself (Yesterday)
, I had been running php as CGI.

Oh, for others reading this, if you have the same problem, you have to delete the bits that make the cgi version run and add the bits than run the module. ( as above )

You also have to copy a file called php4ts.dll to your windows/system or windows/system32 directory - system32 is for win2000 NT and XP.
