search question

I am creating a site that needs a search page and on the page are about 6 different text boxes. My question is if the user only wants to fill in like only 2 text boxes instead of the 6 how code the page or write the sql statement so it would only search using the text boxes that got filled in. I tried searching the site but could not find anything that I could relate.
