Maling lists

Im looking for a way to create a web-based mailing lists. I have two options of sending the mail:

1. I store all the email addresses in a txt file, read them into an array and then use a while loop to mail them all - not v easy to create a script that will unsubscribe (i.e. remove their address from the list).

2. Store the email addresses in a database and then loop through all the fields with a while loop. - easier to enable an unsubscribe option.

Has anyone else done anything like this? How did they do it? Or, is there anyone who can come up with another idea?

created a postcard application similar to this, thougo never a big list of users to send to....

DB is the best way to go, both from management (your unsubscribe issue) and easier (i find) to code.

Do you have any suggestions that I could use if I want to implement a large list of users?

into chunks of users...many isps get pissed off when large voluns of emails are sent....

write a script that allows you to choose portions of the list to send to either (1-200, 201-400 etc) or (a-g, h-t etc) and you control when they are sent

check with your isp on their email newsletter policy...otherwise it's pretty straightfoward to write...
