everything in this command works but when i add the $qty. am i doing it wrong or is this correct. if it is then it will help me as i know this wont be at fault.

the placement and keyword values were incorrect...also what db are you using? not all support subselects...

The statement is correct syntactically. The order of the columns should match the order of the values in the select-list though.
