file perms

Sorry, maybe this was covered but I coudn't find a complete answer;
I want to create/write to a file but got perms errors; I changed the dir/file owner to wwwrun nogroup but still can't write to the damned file, perms error again.What should I do ? Please help !

I think you'll probably have to CHMOD the file. This changes the files permissions and will give different levels of access...
you should be able to do this in your ftp program. If not download smartftp and that'll allow you to do it.
anyway chmod the files to 755 or 777. 777 will give everything permission so it'll definately work if it is a file permission problem, however as anyone can fiddle with it then it's a bit of a security risk, so 755 is safer, but that may not work
You might also trying chmoding the folder it's in to 755 or 777 or something

I did that but still get perms errors.
So : dirs/file owner is wwwrun nogroup
chmod is set to 777
What could be the problem ?

readup on chown, chgrp, and chmod.. anyways about security, try putting the file under the public_html folder (or www, whatever) this way only your scripts can access it and it helps prevent people from messing with it

i could be wrong, but if you chmod it to 777 it changes group/owner to nobody right?

No, it doesn't change the owner/group.
