automated email

hi everyone
i have a situation wherei store email and newsletter(not necessarily n-letter-just some message) and time at which the n-letter has to be activated.
the idea is that the server must send email to all registered emailids depending on the server time(matching with the time stored in the database).
please help me.

I'd use a crontab.

Query the db, email the people if necessary and shut down. Just send them all at midnight. Sending them each at a different time is a logistical nightmare, and you've have to run your script every fifteen minutes.

If you are doing a reminder system or a calendar based thing then you may have to run more often but be aware that your isp may not be happy.

Additionally, don't send at midnight, pick a time off the hour eg 13 minutes past and you're less likely to clash with everyone else's cron jobs.

Ok, midnight is a bad time, use an off-peak time. =)
