HTML insertion/retrieval issues

Hi all:

I've setup a backend interface, which updates a site automatically.
Everything works fine, except one field which is driving me nuts!
It is the only field (textarea) which takes HTML. So users can come and insert something like <a href="http://www.yahoo.com>Here's a Web Directory</a>, and on the viewable page the surfers get to see the html parsed text/link.

I'm rettrieving the field using htmlentities($i[22]), but do I need to use stripslashes, addslashes too?

Sometimes things work, sometimes don't.........

I know this must be vague, but I'm sure you've encountered this before, so could you tell me what would you do in this case??

You might be taking a step too far.

From my experience i have only needed to convert the quotation marks and % signs.

Which generally cause a huge ruccous in textareas.

However htmlentities should work fine. There should be no need add or stripslashes when trying to display the data within the textarea, of course when importing into the database its always wise to stripslashes.

If you could paste in a small example of the text you are trying to import into the textarea maybe I could help you further.
