using php with MSSQL Server 2000

I've been doing tons of searching and the whole nine yards but I can't seem to find some good instructions on how to interface with a MSSQL Server. I've read the instructions in the php manual, but I've realized that I need to talk to this database over ODBC. I've done this before with MS Access databases but never with SQL Server. Can somebody please point me to a tutorial or anything that steps you through interfacing PHP with MSSQL 2000. Thanks!

The easy way is to look in the php manual http://www.php.net/download-docs.php.
There in the "Function Reference" you will find "Microsoft SQL functions".

Well you be using php on a windows machine or on a unix flavor box? The answer to that question determines how you will access the mssql server....
