i've just switched over to my own linux server so i'm very new at all this stuff. everything is working ok for the most part but one thing. when i try to have a weblink directly to an .xls file in my public_html directory,(www.mydomain.com/test.xls) i get a popup box that asks for my username and password. when i hit "cancel" it still takes me to the .xls file regardless of any input to the box. i don't want any log/pass box to pop up. my .htaccess file in that directory is blank. from what i can tell from the httpd.config file there's nothing suggesting any limitations on .xls files. does anyone know why this might be happening? thanks, Dave
