MySQL too havy?

well When I installed MySQL my PC went nuts... in the first days nothing happend but after a while he always crashed... and I had to format my c drive 🙁 and now i'm scared that I install it again, my pc will crash again.. but whitout MySQL I can't go on coding...

Is it possible that MySQL is to havy for my PC?

I have a PIII 500, 320 MB ram and win 98 se...

does anybody have an idea?

Back in the day, I used to run it on an AMD K6/2 350MHz with 64 Megs of RAM.. slower than $@#^, but it worked...

I've actually installed PHP and mySQL on a P233 MMX with 96 megs of ram. It's slow, but it works, too.
