ODBC and localhost

two quick questions.

1. How can I change my Administrative password into MySQL from user ODBC and 'blank' password over to something I can relate to. I tried going into the php.ini file and changing it there. No such luck.

2. If I create a new table within a new database that I have created where does the admin rights come from? I mean can a create a small user table within that new database I just created. Or can I still get in (for testing purposes) via my global password and log-in (ODBC, ' ' , localhost)

Thanks for any help, I've kinda been at it for a while and is stumped.

You can change privileges in the mysql.user table. You can also create new users with
GRANT [privilege_type] ON [databasename.tablename] TO 'username'@'hostname' IDENTIFIED BY 'password';

If you don't know about your hostname (usually 'localhost' will do), try substituting that for a %.
