radio button

I got a value from my database $row["hidden"] and the value is either "N" or "Y"

I need to use that value for my radio button, but I am not sure where should I place the variable
because when I do this:
NO: <input type=radio name="hidden" value="$row[hidden]>
Yes: <input type=radio name="hidden" value="$row[hidden]>
so both value are the same and non of the radio button are selected

What should i do

You could try some variation of this:
NO: <input type=radio name="hidden" value="$row[hidden]
if ($row[hidden] == "N")
{
echo "CHECKED";
}

Yes: <input type=radio name="hidden" value="$row[hidden]
if ($row[hidden] == "Y")
{
echo "CHECKED";
}

Can someone tell me what's wrong with this code
I am getting a parse error on line
if($formVars[hidden]==N)

$radio = "<td>No: <input type='radio' name='hidden' value='$formVars[hidden]'"
if($formVars[hidden]==N)
."checked"."> Yes: <input type='radio' name='hidden' value='$formVars[hidden]'"
if($formVars[hidden]==Y)
."checked"."></td>";

you really need to review your php basics before attempting something like this. it's obvious you have not read through the beginners manual... plase do that...

end your statements with a ';' please

wrap all strings in '' or "" (i think you can get away without doing this in some situations... but you shouldn't )

this:

$formVars['hidden']

not this:

$formVars[hidden]

this:

== 'N'

not this:

== N

I tried $formVars['hidden']=='Y' and it doesn't work that's why I took off those ''.
Where is the end of statement?? I put a ; right after </td>"

Did I miss any??

Was that a general statement, or is there somewhere (or a download) on this site known as the "beginners manual"?
I wouldn't mind reading it if it exists on the site, since I've very rusty in my PHP. 🙂

I figured out where my mistakes were

oops sorry should have been more specific...

i would recommend first reading the first few sections of the php manual... then referring to the later sections for specifics later on

i was referring in my previous post to the language reference section of the php manual... which you can download in the neat-o windows-help format from the frontpage of PHP...
