PHP Password Script

Hi All

I wonder if anyone can help. I am looking for a PHP script that
allows a user to login, with a username and password which directs
access their own unique html document.

In other words, each user would have their own username/password that
allows them to view their own individual documents only.

a Similar action as if you where accessing, say your Hotmail account.

I know it is possible, and seek a script that can accomolish this as I
cannot yet write PHP. Even a comercial script with admin facilities
etc as the number of user could be in the hundreds.

There are many scripts out there that allow multiple ( username /
password ) access to a particular folder. I cannot find a script
that only allows a user to view his own personal documet(s)

Any advice would be appreciated.

Could you be more specific?
What's your setting like? Is the sire database driven?

There are many scripts and methods available. But to choose one, you have to know your needs, your programming skills, and various functionallities.

well i dont have an exact script but this is how i would do it.
Are these Documents Hard coded or are they dynamic pages built on DB info? I am assuming they are dynamic.

The users have thier name and Password in a DB. When they log in you create a session using that Username. At the top of each page you check the Session ID and then pull data from the Database using that Session ID.

For example, if you had a page that pulled up all that users information such as age, email address, name etc...

You would write an SQL statement like this.

SELECT * FROM tblUserInfo WHERE UserID = '$SessionID'

THis would get that specific users information. You would then use a sorta template page that is already layed out and just fill in the blanks with the info from the DB.

No the site is not database driven - pure html

Programming skills - total novice ( although I have set-up a few email PHP scripts which work fine.

The document which I want the readers to access ( their page )
is pure html document - not dynamically produced

Initially I would like to hold all usernames and passwords in a flat text file, eventually moving to MySQL

Simplywhat I need is when a user logs-in they are directed to their own html page. Each user having a unique oage of their own

I guess you would name the Htm pages after the user name..so if the Username is John then the page would be John.htm.. This could be a problem if you have more than 1 john.

So you would get the users name From the Username txtbox on the log in form.

This would probably be named txtUsername.

So in your php page you would have

Print "<META HTTP-EQUIV=\"refresh\" CONTENT=\"0; URL=<?php Print $txtUsername."htm" ?>\">";
?>

This would load the page called john.htm, assuming john was the users name.

All of this is after you have authorized the log in... i'm not real familiar with working with text files..so maybe someone else can answer that.
