How much to charge

I have a client in Washington D.C. that wants a bid for a site - does anyone have an idea what would be a fair hourly rate to charge in that part of the country?

The job would include php and MySQL coding mainly. Probably a smaller site, little or no bells & whistles.

I am on the other side of the country and didn't know if rates differ much from here.

Any input would be appreciated.

Well around here (pennsylvania) which is not to far from DC people will charge at an hourly rate of about $20.00 and hour or possibly more depends on who you have do the page. So I would say that it is up to you. Just don't over charge 😉

$20 ? my goodness! I do presume someone working for such a fee is not paying the bills at home?

Well Possibly more I never really asked someone to build a page for me I guestimated. 🙂

$20 is high? Hell don't come to the middle of the country, $15-20 is almost impossible to find here. And yes I am paying my bills making that much, guess the cost of living here must just be low.

Wel I live on the east coast of the US and everyone wants higher wages lol :p My uncle is a computer programer and makes about $98,000 a year i believe.

We charge roughly $25/hour and we've been told that we are the most reasonable around. I think many companies charge upwards of $50-$100 here.

But these are companies and not independent contractors, big difference there.
