I know this is a bit broad but can some one explain to me how the navagaion at the top of some pages is achived

eg. PHP Builder Community Forums > PHP Help > General Help

How can i do that, my site is using PHP and a MySQL database but i just can not workout how to do it.

What i would like it to do is list everything before the last one as links and then the last one as just normal text.

i think forums take the msgid, link it to the thread id and link that to the parent (at least xmb forums did when i looked at its db)

but for a regular site, you could read the directories to see where you are i guess..
