single quote problem

if I need to store text in database(mysql) should I need to take care of single quote (') first before I insert the data?
If I need to, how should I do it?
Also, are there any special character that I need to take care of?

Please help

Not 100% sure but I think if you set the data type to TEXT (in mySql), you should be able to put any characters in.

If your are going to display your data pre-dominantly on the web, I recomend replacing all single quotes with the single-quote special char.

$Information=ereg_replace("'","'",$Information);

This places &#039: into the dB, and when it is displayed, it displays like a HTML special Charater.

If you plane to print or email this data, then a simple $Information=ereg_replace("'","'",$Information); reverses the process.
