Do I Use An Include?...and how do I do it?

I'm going to probably sound really stupid...but I have what I hope is a very easily answered question. On my site: http://www.seles.co.uk I have a 'right side column' that has the navigation, webstats, archived image, tennis rankings, etc.

What I'm looking to do, is to make that right side column load the same in everypage. And, since the pictures and rankings change periodically, I'm looking to update/change 1 file rather than having to do it on all pages to keep it accurate.

So, I have never used .php, but I was wondering if someone could help me. Is this what I need? How would I do it?

it's actually very easy... thanks to the wonders of php.
The only thing you need to do is add a very simple line in php, like so:

<? 
include ('file.x'); 
?>

Just make sure that file doesn't have the </body> and/or </html> tags. That's only to avoid a messy display.

Right in the .htm file where I want the 'file' displayed? Sorry if these are dumb ?s.

You need to rename your page to pagename.php and then the information that you want to include needs to be file.x

Then you would enter it like so:

If it is in a table then within the

<td><?php include ('file.x'); ?></td>

That should work.
