recoverable encryption ?

Hi,

I'm trying to encrypt a password before I write into DB, and
decrypt it into the original string in case a user lost his/her password and ask to be mailed.

A secure way is make passwords not decryptable (i.e. using [man]md5[/man]).
When a user lost his password you simply
assign a new password to him, then he'll change it so you never know his password.
