A little off topic..(kinda)

Just upgraded to RH8.0 from RH7.3 and now I can't send mail with mail().

php.ini looks fine. but I keep getting this error in my maillog.

crabwest sendmail[20842]: gA7NYrXJ020842: to=[e-mail], ctladdr=nobody (99/99), delay=00:03:09, xdelay=00:03:09, mailer=relay, pri=30099, relay=localhost.com. [10.20.40.80], dsn=4.0.0, stat=Deferred: Connection timed out with localhost.com

REDHAT irc channel has been no help so I look to y'all.

do you have sendmail running? are you sure?

can you access sendmail straight from the command line?

can you send mail useing sendmail from outside php ok?

Yep... telnet 127.0.0.1 25 works fine.

Access? Yes...Use successfully? No.

Nope...same thing. For some reason sendmail is looking to connect to "localhost.com" to send mail. Don't know why and don't see anything wrong in sendmail.mc. I even added localhost.com to /etc/hosts. Even that doesn't work. I have configured sendmail and apache/php a bunch of times in the past and never remember having such a problem.

yes...not a php problem...more a sendmail and tha_mink problem but still...grasping at straws here.
