adjusting telephone number

Hi everyone!

I have produced a site that pulls a telephone number from a mySQL database and displays it - for example:

01888 888888

But I want to show the telephone number twice - first normally and then in its international form (which takes away the first zero) and adds '+44' - for example:

01888 888888

[phone]

How can I take the first zero from the telephone number? Cheers in advance for any advice!
