I really wanna learn Php . Mainly because I wan the Forums to be located at my site. I lik ethis type of forums. But first off, what is PHP??????

I know HTML, pretty good but PHP is all new to me.

so how is it differen't from HTML. I really need to learn this cause I want a tight message board for our site. www.sigmakers.com

PHP is a pre-processor engine that allows your scripts to perform serverside tasks that are generated into common HTML and higher forms of web content.

If you read around these forums, you can learn a lot. Or do a google on PHP and you will find thousands of pages dedicated to subject.

For useful forums you could try:

http://www.vbulletin.com - you have to license this software
http://www.phpbb.com - which has improved drastically in the last year and is the best free alternative to vbulletin.

PHP unlike HTML, and like other programming languages isn't something you can learn overnight. There are enough snippets and samples out there that you can fake your way through, but it would do you best if you started at the source and progressed from there.

If you're looking for learning material.. a couple good books are..

PHP And MySql Web Development

and

PHP Developers Cookbook

Go search on amazon.com for those books. They're both kinda old but still very good tools. Get the first book I listed first though because it's a book to learn by where the second book is more of a ..well..cookbook of php code .. it won't teach you much.
