I was wondering if any one could help me with the following. Thank you in advance to all respondees!
I am currently writing some lyric scripts... I have one table called "lyrics" and I magically get everything in there and display it pretty well. In the table, there is a column name "views" and counts the number of times the page is displayed. I also have some columns with titles like "album,artist,etc." Anyways, I just group everything and select distinct when I am putting pages together of artists and albums and whatnot. I am setting up some statistic stuff and I would like to add up all the 'views' for everything in a group, such as artist, and display a list of the top 5 popular. So if there were, let's say 20 songs for an artist, it would count all the views and add them together and then display the top 5 using a SORT BY views DESC LIMIT 5... or something like that. Each row is a different song, but several rows may have the same artist or album. Thanks again for any help!
