PHP inludes REALLY not working!

Fatal error: Failed opening required 'forums/ssi.php?a=news&show=1' (include_path='.;c:\php4\pear') in C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\index.php on line 11

I am using this as a development server, I have an IB fourm working in the forums directory. what is wrong? 😕

I thought you couldnt have variables in an include line.....?

i.e. it had to be include "file.php" ;
and not include "file.php?thisvar=this&that=this" ;

try it without the vars and see if it works...

To show the last 10 topics and posts in the news forums...

include("http://domain.com/forums/ssi.php?a=news&show=10");

You can adjust the "show" attribute to display a different amount of topics.

To show the board statistics

include("http://domain.com/forums/ssi.php?a=stats");

To show the active users stats (x Members, X Guests, etc)

include("http://domain.com/forums/ssi.php?a=active");

hmmm, yeah thats confusin 😕

lol.. its prolly a file someone has made who hasnt tested it yet... i.e. they didnt know they cudnt do that, but assumed you can and put it anyway....

im 99% sure you cant do it, unless you edit the way php works completely or something crazy... so i wouldnt use that source 🙂

There is nothing wrong with the example source. Read the section of the manual that explains how PHP deals with network file sources through HTTP and FTP.

You can include any Web resource by referring to it with a full URL:

include(http://www.google.com/search?q=php+include'');

You can NOT pass urlencoded arguments to a local file. That doesn't make sense. If that's what you're trying to do, don't do it.
