i thought about this from skimming though another thread on these forums 😛

how would you get a php/mysql etc system to collect mail from a pop server - for web based email?
would you have to have a cron collecting mail every 'x' minutes and putting it into a database for specific users to read etc later?

if so (or another way) what would you use, or how would you do it? if you were using the php mail function to send, then everything else is easy its just the recieving of emails that is the problem...

does any one know of any links or useful sources etc? or possibly post the very basics here?

any help would be appriciated..

you won't need to cron the task, just check for new email each time somebody reads their mail. i.e. check on demand, not scheduled.

how can i open and edit php.ini to enable dl()?

Im not actually on the server with the php files... (im using a webserver via ftp)...

is it possible?
