Form Verification

Hello everyone, This is my first thread with PHP Builder.

I am developing a simple ticket purchase system for a client and I am having a small problem with having the information display in the form.

What is the best way to have the page verifiy the information, then if the information is not correct, redisplay the form with the users information along with a error message?

For what it's worth, my approach to this is:

Make the form and checking self contained by putting it all in one file.
Use Javascript where possible to verify the input at the client-side rather than initiating a new server call. If there are problems at this stage I use the JS confirm() function to display a pop-up message informing the user.
For things that cannot be checked on the client side (e.g. for security or if DB is required) then use a space above the form to display details (but make it only appear if the form has been submitted and there are errors to be shown!)
