error messages

I am trying to install a couple of scripts and I keep on getting errors the first one is "premature end of script headers" this comes up when I try to run the mysql file.

and on the second script the error message is "file has no execute permission" I have chmod it to the right permission though. this also happens running the mysql file.

Could anyone shed some light on this please

It would be easier if you'd print at least some part of the script here, so that we can have a look at it.

this is a bit different from the first message but it is still about errors
I got my database setup but now everything has got errors on
ie when ilog in is a server error file not found same with all the other links.
this was a ready made script but i have found this which I hope could be the problem

$join_free = "http://www.red-lightning.com/cgi/ffa/free/join.cgi";
$join_pro = "http://www.red-lightning.com/cgi/ffa/pro/join.cgi";
$ffa_dir = "http://www.red-lightning.com/cgi/ffa";

these are a couple of lines in the config file I am not clued up on this at all but is the cgi suppose to be cgi-bin or just as it is
ie
$join_free = "http://www.red-lightning.com/cgi-bin/ffa/free/join.cgi";
$join_pro = "http://www.red-lightning.com/cgi-bin/ffa/pro/join.cgi";
$ffa_dir = "http://www.red-lightning.com/cgi-bin/ffa";

if the original is right does anyone know what could be problem
