My server is running PHP 4.1 on Apache 1.3 on RedHat 7.3. There, I use the [man]pow/man function to do this:
$result = pow($value, 1.3);
When I installed RedHat 8.0 on my laptop, I was overjoyed to see Apache 2.0.43 installed with PHP 4.2... Until I got to the page with the pow function on it.
After beating my computer for a while in anger, I read-up on [man]pow/man at www.php.net. There, it was pointed out that pow() no longer takes arbitrary precision values. Some people suggested the use of [man]bcpow/man (may have to look at php.net for docs since the ones here are behind), but I still could not get $value raised to 1.3 .
WHY, DEAR GOD, HAVE YOU DONE THIS TO ME?!?
Thanks in advance.
