ok... i am with a host who just upgraded to php 4.2.3 which caused the gd lib not to work anymore - after 5 days of discussion they downgraded back to 4.2.2 and not the gd lib works again... the only problem there is now is, that if an uploaded picture gets resized for example it looks like an image filter was applied on it - it looks really crappy - like on a 16 color screen this definitely wasnt like that before - and my provider says it should be ok, cos everything is set as it was used to. well - im sure it isnt... some examples:

the last one is one of those extremely shitty examples... so...
since i dont know too much about the gd lib installations, does anybody of the server gurus here have an idea, whatcould be wrong?
