Does anybody know where I can buy a plain, ol' 100Mb hub that doesn't switch? ...everyone seems to be selling switches these days.

I'm afraid that they're false advertising. I got a LinkSys hub the other day that turned out to be a switch once I plugged it in so my packet sniffer only detected broadcast traffic. The box was labeled "Network Hub". WTF?

Was it a dual speed hub? as these are in effect switches, each segment (10mb traffic and 100mb) are seperated by a switch which controls the flow of data.

Yes, it's a dual speed hub. But I have a Dual Speed 3Com hub here and that's working great as a hub (with the sniffer). It's a little damaged though so it slows down the whole net to the point where it's unusable so I'm trying to replace it with a new one.

It's a Dual Speed Hub 500 (Superstack II series).

It's actually the 24port one but that doesn't matter for what I'm doing. I'm only using 3ports.
