Greetings Everyone,
I recently left the employ of a public school whose web server runs apache with php 4. When I left I agreed to maintain the website of my school.
The problem is that the server admin will not support mysql, in fact he suggested a flat file database. I would dearly love to use mysql, but he won't support it. So in the first version of the website I suffered through tedious manual entry of data and only used php for structural elements. It is up at www.rogers.k12.ar.us/kirksey if anyone wants to see. I really want to implement forms based (database) administration of this site.
Ok so here's my question:
1. Is there any database type I can just upload into a directory and access from php like I do mysql?
or
- Can I access mysql databases from another website or would that be too slow?
or
- Does anyone know of good php/flat file solutions or resources anywhere.
or
- Am I just out of luck!!!!
