Major Cookie Problems

Pulling my hair out with this one. It's kinda hard to explain but i will do my best. (trying to create a shopping cart)

In my scripts i have a log in script that sets a cookie right from the beggining:

setcookie ("username", "$username");

then the user can either buy a product or add the product to his/her favorites list. if they buy a product, i set the cookie:

setcookie("basket","$basket$item&");

At this point everything is still fine. Now if they continue to buy products, everything is still fine, but as soon as they add a product to their favorites list, i set a cookie:

setcookie("favbasket","$favbasket$item&");

as soon as this happens, i lose my original $username cookie, its just dissappears. then if i return to the log in script to log in again, i lose all my other cookies. WTH is going on...... Please, if you would like to see my scripts let me know. im banging my head against the wall on this one!

Just a thought but a possible explanation might be that once a cookie has been set it is not available within that same page!

You've probably thought of that already but it's that sort of thing that screws me up so I thought I'd mention it 😃

I had a huge problem getting php to set cookies correctly (operater error, I'm sure), so I setted with a work around. I use javascript to set the cookie, and use php to read it.
