Can PHP do this?

Hey,

Please forgive anything I say that sounds stupid. Until yesterday I only knew that php were letters in the alphabet 🙂

I want to develope a website that does a few things for visitors. I hope the following will make sense.

1.) On the home page I will put a form where the visiter will fill in differnet fields of personal information.

2.) At the bottom of the form I will put a button that says "create my website".

Here's why:

I want to give my visitors a free cutomized website. So when they enter their personal information, I want it added to a database and then writen to a web page that I design.

Each person who signs up will recieve the same web page, and need their own address. Something like domain.com/1234. The only difference between each site will be their personal information inserted at the bottom.

3.) Once they've clicked that "create my website" button, I will send them to a "thank you" page telling them to check their email for their new web address.

So along with creating a custom page for them, I also want their new web address put into an email template I create and then automatically sent to them.

I'm not sure how confusing that sounds or if php is part of the answer. I hope I get a few replies.

The simple answer to your question is yes, PHP is part of the answer, but so will a Database like MySQL. You'll want to break your 3 desires into smaller bits and then try and code up from there.

I don't want to do this myself. I was hoping to find out if it was possible and then hire someone skilled.

Can you tell me how I go about finding a good programmer for this job?

You could post a thread asking for paid help on the Echo Lounge forum,
or you could go to a agency and hire a freelancer,
or the cheaper and more fun way,
do it yourself! 🙂
