Creat a table?.. plz help

how do i creat a table, i have a script that will add to a database, but it doesnt include creating the table.. helpppp meee plz :

close, but you have to define all the fields and stuff.

Do you have phpmyadmin installed? It would help greatly.
You could either create a table in there and then look at the generated SQL or choose the dump option and have look at the SQL generated from that.

Are you trying to initially create a table, or you want a table created dynamically?

If you have access to phpmyadmin it would make it a lot simpler.

Otherwise, describe what your table requirements are and we'll go from there.
You must specify the field type and any other options you wish.

well, this table is for people who register for my site, i just want them to be able to fill out the form, send the info, and it gets placed into the table and what not, then they can sign in.

BTW, when you do mysql_select_db("mustbeinquotes") and it must be the name of a database, not a table.

The name of the table should probably be something like users or accounts or biohazard_users.

Sounds like you want to capture:

(username, passwd, firstname, lastname, email, age, homepage, imservicename, aim, yahoo, icq)

Is that all?

By the way, it's good practice to include a unique index. Standard practice is to just use an int that is auto_increment: ie: 1,2,3,4,5,......

What web server are you running? Where is it? Are you sure you don't have access to phpmyadmin?

dude, install phpmyadmin.
You would do yourself a HUGE favor and it doesn't take long.

I don't know how flexible you are, but you might use a package called FoxServ. It will setup apache, perl, mysql, phpmyadmin, php, and maybe python also for you. It's super super easy to do as it takes about one step.

You can find it by searching for it on www.sourceforge.com
or try this (but I'm not sure) www.sourceforge.com/projects/foxserv

i already have asp, php, and perl and mysql installed so i'm fine :p

well the stuff I gave you is a good template.
You wont' have to modify it very much.
The first word on every line is the name of the field/column.
After that is the type.
Basically, try modifying the names to match what you want and get rid of the extra stuff.
That alone should provide something useable.

You may want to adjust some of the field types (varchar, int, text...) and the number in parentheses like this int(5) or this varchar(29) is how many characters are allowed. Int is a number varchar is a variable number of characters.

Most if not all of what you want is just text, so varchar should be fine.
