E-mail before subscription expires

I have another question.....I need some direction on how to go about coding a site that when the persons subscription expires it will notify them via the email address stored in a sql database.

Any help would be great.

make a cron job that runs a php file every day.
This file searches the db for subscriptions with a certain expiration date (maybe the current date? or today's date plus one [tomorrow]) Then it sends a nice little email to all the ones it finds.

Alternately, every time the user signs on, you can look at when they will expire and send them an email if they expire in a certain amount of time.

there's been several posts today about CRON jobs.

try looking up executing PHP in shell

try looking up cron on man pages.

I don't know of anything real specific.

I have done some looking and I am not sure if I can use a CRON Job.

My hosting provider is using Windows 2000 Advanced Server and IIS 5.0

From what I have seen so far CRON jobs need unix. Am I correct in this?

I understand that Windows servers have some similar flavor to this, but I don't know what it's called.

There is - it's name is some variant on the word "scheduler".

Ok....now that I know that I can use windows scheduler.....can someone help out.....this is a little out of my league. Setting up the scheduler I think I can do, ( I took a look and it seems pretty easy...I think!!!) but as far as the script, can someone help me out. Has anyone done this before that can point me to a tutorial.
