php on a mac!

I am brand new to php. I am trying to set up php and im not sure what to do. My web hosting company has php capabilities. If anyone could help me install php and set it up that would be great,

well php on a mac is the easiest.. its been a long time since i last downloaded a php version.. so this may not help much..

Mac as far to my knowledge is Unix..

So downloading the Unix version would be the go..

Im pretty sure once you download it.. you need the .exe for it as well.. that will install it for you.

If your hardware is supported, move up to OS X.
It has been a dream to dev on OS X!
apache and PHP are pre-installed and easy to config.
BBEdit (the free version) is a great dev tool with grep.
Last and not least, it's a pleasure to get around the filesystem.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't think you can use PHP/MySQL on OS 9. Like the man said: upgrade to OS X if you can. You don't have to have the latest and greatest hardware to run it. I am using a Blue & White G3. It ran fine on the original 350mHz G3 chip. But I upgraded to a 500mHz G4 ZIF.

Be aware that the installation and config instructions on Marc Lyonage's page (entropy.ch) might not be exactly correct. The November 2002 issue of Macworld had a good article ("Serve It Up") on installing PHP, MySQL and phpMyAdmin under OS X 10.2. See if the article is posted on the Macworld.com site.
