bloody stupid question

As the subject says..... I'm willing to be abused, laughed at and derided BUT....

is there any logical reason why I can't get more than 256 records into a MySQL table ?

The scenario is that I'm copying a .csv file with 750 records and it stopped at 256. To try and find out what was wrong I copied the 256 that worked into another .csv file and tried adding those.. no luck.

there you go... said it was stupid but please help if you can.

Change the datatype of your auto_increment column from unsigned tinyint to int.

Hi,

That is because you can only store values from 0 to 255 in unsigned tiny int.
Have a look at storage types:
http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Column_types.html
