PHP 4.2.2 on SUSE 8.1

I have just installed Apache/1.3.26 (Linux/SuSE) PHP/4.2.2 mod_perl/1.27

On SUSE 8.1

I used to run PHP ?? on SUSE 7.3

I am finding that all parameters passed into a php script are null

eg. http://localhost/allan.php?hello=1

says that $hello is blank

Can anyone help???

In php.ini set register_globals to On

and then restart your webserver

Do you happen to know of a better way of communicating this information?

I am trying to distinguish between 1 of many affected rows in a table (which to delete update etc..) the only thing that I can think of doing is to encrypt the globals.
