multiple script execution

have hundreds of email addresses, to whom heavy emails are sent. if i use the browser it will take over 30 mins to send emails, so it might get timeout, also user will have to wait long time till the response is given.

has anyone tried multiple script execution to hand over the sending emails to some other script and let the user to keep browsing on main interface?

may be the cron?

well you could always do a strait socket connection to the mail server, over a socket connection you sgould be able to handle any amount of mail that you need.
