maintaining sessions between sites

i am running multiple sites under the same domain name such as

site1.mydomain.com
site2.mydomain.com
site3.mydomain.com
etc.

i also have a single site with a valid ssl cert at

secure.mydomain.com

Each site has a shopcart and unique list of purchasable items.
i want to redirect all these partners to my secure site for the actual transaction of credit info.

the problem is that since the shopcarts are stored in sessions i need to initialize my secure.mydomain.com session with the partner session information.

i would bet i am not the first with this idea. how is it usually handled.

Hi there,

You should simply write a cookie to store session info.

the session will then be propogated at either domain, as long as the domain is set to complete site access, eg, top of domain.

The info you need will then be in

HTTP_COOKIE_VARS[] array. Or indeed _COOKIE[] in the newer builds.
