Can Authors Own Their Threads?

Is it possible to give the "starter" of a new thread, admin powers (ie. delete and edit posts) over that thread, and that thread only?

Well, you could of course have a page where you can edit entries, which checks wether the person logged in is the person posting that thread. If he is: Allow him to acces the editpage, else don't.

Somehow I do not understand why you would want that though. think about the implications for the forum...

Wouldn't it be better if there is one admin and some moderators, not the thing you mentioned?

Thank you for your replies and sorry it took me so long to get back to this thread. Perhaps if I explain my intentions, you will have a better understanding of my question:

I want to create an area of self rule. I propose to give the person who had a great (or not so great) thread idea, complete control over that thread and that thread only. I would not object to a forum "janitor" to clean up the work of thirteen year old boys (no offense) mischief but lacking in in real power.

With this, I think the community will quickly get sorted out.

As someone who wants to reply to a thread, knowing the personality behind the content creator, I will be more aware of the chances of what a well (or not so well) received reply might be.

So, on a 1 to 1 basis, I think it will work.

Plus I like the idea of the content creator being the only "moderator".

Thank you for your time and would appreciate any assistance or even a point in the right direction. I would have liked to have spent a lot of time in discovering the answer on my own but unfortunately a lot of time is not something I have at this moment.
